The Utah Valley Trails Alliance supports sustainable recreation on the trails of the Southern Wasatch Mountains, especially "foothill" trails in the wildland-urban interface, through planning, education, and stewardship.

The Alliance is an advisory committee to the Mountainland Association of Governments. It’s led by volunteers from MTB, trail running, and other user groups. Representatives of agencies managing public land (e.g. the US Forest Service and Utah Department of Wildlife Resources) and local governments are on the board.

Maps and planning

For the Timpanogos Wildlife Management Area, public input was gathered last year and the trail plan is being finalized now. Signs for newly designated official trails are in process for this year, as are several reroutes and closures. See the latest trail plan map, updated June 2019.

The rest of Phase I planning, covering foothill trails from Lehi to Provo, also gathered public input last year, and we are gathering ground-truth information and working on plans. We anticipate having plans prepared in time for the Pleasant Grove USFS Ranger District to submit a proposal for NEPA review before their semi-annual October deadline.

Phase II planning, covering foothill trails from Provo to Santaquin, gathered public input in February and March of 2019. Information-gathering and planning will continue into 2020.
